  1. Visit Old Town Temecula. Explore the historic district with its unique shops, restaurants, and museums. Great family places to grab some food are 1909, Be Good Restaurant & Dining Experience, Mad Madeline’s Grill, and Swing Inn Cafe. Old Town Sweet Shop and The Sugar Spot are great for candy and ice cream treats.  

  1. Explore Temecula Valley Wine Country. Although wine tasting is for adults, some properties welcome families with picnic areas and activities. These wineries include Akash Winery & Vineyards, Avensole Winery, BOTTAIA Winery (Pool & Poolside Café), Inn at Churon Winery, Cougar Vineyard & Winery, Falkner Winery, Fazeli Cellars, Frangipani Estate Winery, Leoness Cellars, Oak Mountain Winery, Peltzer Winery (Sun-Thurs), Robert Renzoni Vineyards & Winery, South Coast Winery, and Wilson Creek Winery

  1. Enjoy outdoor activities at Lake Skinner. Get a day pass and have a picnic, go fishing, cool off at the splash pad, and explore the hiking and biking trails.  

  1. Take a family hike. Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve offers several trails of varying lengths and difficulty levels, allowing you to enjoy the outdoors and spot wildlife. Stop in their Visitor Center to learn more about the area and get a trail map. 

  1. Discover at immersive museums. Pennypickle's Workshop, Temecula Children’s Museum, offers hands-on exhibits and interactive displays that promote creativity and scientific exploration. Temecula Valley Museum gives insights to the history and culture of the region through exhibits and be sure to look upstairs for hands-on fun.   1. Attend a local event or festival. There are three Farmer’s Markets a week year-round. The Temecula Sunset Market is the second and fourth Wednesday evening in Old Town Temecula. Other family-friendly events include the largest corn maze in Southern California at Big Horse Feed in October along with their Harvest Festival. The Farm at Peltzer Winery also has a harvest event with plenty of kid activities. Temecula ArtFest is every September where there are art exhibits, vendors, and chalk art open for everyone to participate in.

Pool time can be especially memorable at The Cove at Pechanga or BOTTAIA Winery.  Paddle boats are for rent at Harveston Lake and it’s a great place for a picnic. During the month of December, there are two ice skating rinks, one at Peltzer Winery and the other in Old Town Temecula. There are two parades in Old Town: Santa’s Electric Parade on the first Friday in December and on the 4th of July.  

  1. Playtime at the park. Vail Headquarters is a historical park with an open grass area, shops, dining, and historical sites. They host a Sunday Funday each week with stagecoach rides, train rides, petting zoo and pony rides, and more. Other parks for picnics are play areas are Patricia Birdsall Sports Park, Ronald Reagan Sports ParkSam Hicks Monument Park, and Temecula Duck Pond.
