24 Hours in Temecula

Wednesday, April 18, 2018 1:00 PM

There’s so much more to Temecula than Wine and Beer Tasting. And with its fair share of exciting hot air balloon rides, incredible golf courses, enchanting Old Towns and bling-loving casinos – Temecula is a favorite for a weekend getaway — or even just 24 hours!

UP, UP, UP AND AWAY:

There’s something about hot air balloons that makes your spirit soar. Wake up early enough in Temecula and you’re likely to see one of these balloons rising up in the air. Take in these beautiful sights—or be brave enough to go up in one yourself and see the panoramic views below.

There may be no better way to see California!

FESTIVAL LIFE:

The only thing better than seeing one hot air balloon is seeing many more!

So why not plan your trip around the Temecula Valley Balloon & Wine Festival? It’s held in the beginning of summer, right on the first weekend of June, so this event is always a big draw for locals and out-of-towners alike. I’m hoping to get to go myself soon!

Extra bonus: You can even go up in a balloon that is still tethered to the ground.

Tickets to the festival (and local hotel rooms) are limited so be sure to book in advance!

PARTY IT UP AT PECHANGA

With a recent $300 million dollar expansion, Pechanga Resort has positioned itself to become San Diego’s best answer to Vegas.

While I did not stay in the hotel overnight, I was given a tour of its many facilities, including their stunningly beautiful spa and Vegas-worthy pool, called ‘The Cove.’

TRAVEL IN FURTHER BACK IN TIME IN OLD TOWN TEMECULA

If the 1920s are too modern, go back a few more decades to the 1800s.

There’s something fun about strolling through California’s collections of Old Towns. From Old Town Sacramento to Old Town San Diego, I love to wander past wooden boardwalks and imagine what life was like amongst these wooden 1800s storefronts.

Today, the area is the main hub of the city and chock full of bars, restaurants, and shops carrying sweet-tasting olive oils and antiques.

HIT IT OUT OF THE PARK

My semi-pro golfer bae wasn’t with me so I didn’t check out the courses but Alex has played at tournaments in Temecula over the years. So if you’re a golfer, be sure to bring your clubs!
