Scenically located in the heart of Southern California Wine Country, the Temecula Valley Balloon and Wine Festival, May 29-31, 2020, offers the finest tastes, sights and sounds in one picturesque setting. The three-day event is staged at Lake Skinner Recreation Area, a multi-species reserve that stretches into 14,000 acres of open space that eventually links to Diamond Valley Lake.
Exhilarating views abound, whether feet are firmly planted on the ground or gliding through the air in a Hot Air Balloon. The Festival features up to 40 hot air balloons rising at sunrise into the Temecula’s beautiful skies, up to 16 wineries, camping, and top bands in concert on two different stages.
Lifting both spirits and spectators, guests can choose between a 45-minute balloon flight over wine country or a five to eight-minute tethered ride that does not leave the Festival grounds. Balloon flights held at dawn on Saturday and Sunday and are weather permitting. Tethered rides continue until about 8:30 a.m. Guests who prefer sleeping-in, can enjoy the night-owl’s option of evening hot air balloon glows on Friday and Saturday nights.
Balloon “Glows” provide a closeup view of the hot air balloons and a spectacular light show. During the glow, up to eight balloons tether to the ground, inflate their canopies and then simultaneously ignite their burners. This illuminates the colorful balloon canopies against the velvet black evening skies.
A new eyeopener this year is the Sunrise Balloon Brunch on Saturday and Sunday mornings. The package features admission, a reserved tethered hot air balloon ride, brunch and mimosas.
This is Southern California Wine Country where the vibe is casual, fine wine abundant and lazy afternoons in the sun are complemented with a variety of food experiences. Wine Enthusiast magazine named the Temecula Valley one of the 10 Best Wine Getaways for 2019. The Festival offers a chance to taste many of the local wines in one beautiful park setting. Up to 50 different wines will be offered with two ways to taste – the standard wine tasting ticket and the winemakers reserve ticket where tasting is done in a private garden.
Afternoons and evenings feature concerts on two stages. The wine stage offers local and Indie artists Friday through Sunday. The Main Stage provides Festival headliners. All concerts are included in the ticket price. Reserved seats are available for the headliners. Previous concerts have included Chris Young, Third Eye Blind, 3 Doors Down, Big & Rich, Kenny Loggins, Russell Dickerson, Blake Shelton, Chase Bryant, Bush and Peter Frampton. Bands are announced in the spring.
