TEMECULA, Calif. (April 9, 2015) -- On Earth Day 2015, Ponte Family Estate will receive the prestigious Environmental Leader Award from the Elsinore-Murrieta-Anza Resource Conservation District (EMARCD) recognizing its commitment to sustainability. In 2010, Ponte Winery became the first winery in Temecula Valley to become a Certified California Sustainable Winegrower (CCSW) and has continued to lead the valley on conservation best practices. The award ceremony will be held at Ponte Vineyard Inn and will be attended by Riverside County Supervisor Chuck Washington, newly appointed by Governor Jerry Brown.

"With Governor Brown's recent mandate to cut water usage by 25%, it is a great honor to be recognized for conservation and sustainable practices," explains Founder and Managing Partner Claudio Ponte. "We feel lucky to have had the unwavering support of Senator Stone as our county supervisor for the past ten years and are excited to work with Supervisor Washington on our continued mission to influence positive change in the community."

Ponte Vineyard Inn's commitment to green practices has also earned it a "Green Leaders" distinction from TripAdvisor. Ponte incorporates green practices in everything they do-from low-water irrigation systems and soil sensors in the vineyards, to electric bus tours, to solar panels on the roof of Ponte Vineyard Inn. Ponte also uses energy and water-efficient equipment and appliances throughout the estate, from the fermentation tank yard to guest rooms, where any leftover amenities are recycled through a partnership with "Clean the World." All employees are thoroughly trained on Ponte's core mission to leave a light carbon footprint in Temecula Wine Country and on the Earth.
