Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Smash Mouth seemed to be everywhere after 1995 - songs on pop and rock radio stations and in major motion pictures. The band even appeared as themselves in the move Rat Race. Known for their poppy, inclusive-of-everybody style with hints of ska and reggae, the band is known for songs such as "Walkin' on the Sun," "All Star" and covers of popular songs, including the Monkees' "I'm a Believer," War's "Why Can't We Be Friends?", Question Mark & the Mysterians's "Can't Get Enough of You Baby" and more. Audiences who do not know the band's name have heard them while watching Shrek movies The Jungle Book 2.
Formed in 1986 out of the Santa Barbara, Calif. area, Toad the Wet Sprocket achieved commercial success with their third album, Fear. The songs "Walk on the Ocean" and "All I Want" hit the top 20 on Billboard's Hot 100. Other songs such as "Brother" were also featured on television shows "Friends" and in the move So I Married an Axe Murderer. Their fourth album sent songs "Something's Always Wrong" and "Fall Down" to the charts. The band's most recent album, New Constellation, was released on October 15, 2013.
Tonicroared onto the music scene in 1996 with their debut album, Lemon Parade. The single "If You Could Only See" reached No. 11 on the Billboard Airplay Hot 100, and Lemon Parade reached platinum status. They self-produced their second album, Sugar, and turned out rock radio hits such as "You Wanted More" and "Knock Down Walls." Several of their songs were also featured in major movies such as American Pie and Scream 2. The band has been nominated for two Grammy awards.
