-- Nationally Judged BBQ Event, Microbrew Extravaganza, and Interactive Native American Pow Wow Scheduled for Temecula Resort -
TEMECULA, Calif. - (May 1, 2014) - Most family's summer schedules fill up well before the calendar flips around to June. This summer, Pechanga Resort & Casino offers three family friendly, fun and unique festival events worth fitting into the warmer months' agendas. Late June features the Pechanga BBQ Competition and the Pechanga Microbrew Festival. For three days in July, more than 60,000 people and members of tribes across North America descend on Pechanga and Temecula for the annual Pechanga Pow Wow.
The Pechanga Barbeque Festival can be smelled from miles around on Saturday, June 21. From 10:00a.m. to 5:00p.m., beef, pork, chicken and more sizzle and smoke from the nearly 100 BBQ competitors' grills, enticing thousands of eager eaters. Meats, sauces and rubs are judged by accredited experts of the Kansas City Barbeque Society. Barbeque teams vie for their share of the $20,000 prize purse, the largest of all Southern California BBQ competitions. Event admission is $5. Children 10 and under are free. Once inside, BBQ aficionados can enjoy tastings based on the number of sample tickets purchased, live music, and a beer and wine garden. Pets are not allowed. More microbreweries pop up in the Southern California region every year and the annual Pechanga Microbrew Festival celebrates the art of mixing hops, barley, spices and other ingredients into specialty craft beers. Happening Saturday, June 28 from 1:00p.m. to 5:00p.m. inside the Pechanga Grand Ballroom, the event features more than 50 microbrews, chili cook off, live music and an extensive silent auction. Proceeds from the event benefit Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley. Tickets are $45 and attendees receive a two ounce souvenir glass to sample unlimited beer tastings. Designated driver tickets are available for $25. Guests must be 21 or older. For tickets or more information, visit www.Pechanga.com or call (877) 711-2946.
